Research and Evaluation

The research component of the MIP seeks to document how the community of Oklahoma mathematics instructors evolves as the community develops and implements entry-level mathematics instruction that focuses on meaningful applications, academic success skills, and an increased use of active learning techniques. The MIP is unique in that it involves faculty from all 27 public institutions of higher education in Oklahoma. Knowing what contributes to the success of large-scale instructional reform and the nature of faculty change can inform reform efforts nation-wide.

The evaluation component of the MIP focuses on the effects of the MIP on students and faculty. Statewide data from the OSRHE will help evaluate student success and persistence in courses taught by faculty engaged in the MIP. The MIP project team will gather data about the extent to which mathematics faculty at all 27 public institutions of higher education adopt MIP-produced materials.
